You have already rented the truck or booked the container. You just need the crew for the heavy lifting. Labor-only is how you get professional movers for the loading, the unloading, or both, without paying for a truck you do not need.
You arranged the transport. We handle the heavy lifting.
Labor-only is the most flexible service we offer. Load only, unload only, or both. Your rental truck, your container, or your vehicle. Our crew, our equipment, our efficiency.
The truck is sorted. Now get a crew that loads it right.
A lot of LA moves start with a rented truck and a plan to handle the loading. The truck part is straightforward. The loading part is where things go wrong: furniture damaged because it was not padded, boxes shifted in transit because they were not stacked correctly, a sofa that would not fit through a door because nobody thought to measure it first. A professional crew solves all of that without adding the cost of a full-service move.
Royal Moving & Storage provides labor-only service across Los Angeles for rental trucks, moving containers, freight shipments, and personal vehicles. Book loading at your origin, unloading at your destination, or both. Transparent pricing with the full cost up front.
Six situations where booking a crew without a truck makes more sense than a full-service move or going it alone.
You have already rented a truck
You booked a U-Haul, Penske, Budget, or Enterprise truck and just need the crew to load and unload it. We show up, load efficiently, and leave. You drive the truck. No duplication of cost.
You are using a moving container
PODS, U-Pack, 1-800-Pack-Rat, or any portable container sitting in your driveway or lot. Loading a container correctly takes experience: heavy items first, walls loaded before the center, everything strapped. We do this every day.
You want to keep costs down
Renting a truck and hiring labor separately is often cheaper than full-service moving, especially for local moves in LA. You pay for the crew by the hour, not for a bundled package that includes a truck you are paying twice for.
You only need help at one end
Maybe family is helping at the destination but you need a crew for the heavy loading at the origin. Or a freight service is delivering your shipment and you need unloading hands. Book loading only, or unloading only, and pay for what you actually need.
You have the vehicle, not the back
You own a van, have a friend with a truck, or have arranged your own transport. But lifting a sectional sofa up two flights of stairs is not something you can do alone or without risking an injury. That is the exact job we are here for.
You are staging or rearranging in place
Heavy furniture moved within the same property, items shifted between floors, or a room being staged for a sale. No truck involved at all. Labor-only covers any job that is purely about the physical work, not the transport.
Labor-only is the simplest service we offer. You tell us the address, the vehicle type, and what needs to move. The crew handles the rest.
01
Book the crew
Tell us the address, the date, what you are moving, and what vehicle or container will be there. You get a transparent quote with the full cost up front.
02
Crew arrives on time
The crew shows up with moving blankets, straps, and dollies. Your truck or container is in place. They assess the job and get started.
03
Loaded correctly
Furniture padded, heavy items on the floor, boxes stacked by weight, everything strapped so nothing shifts in transit. The truck is loaded to maximize space and protect your belongings.
04
Unloaded and placed
At the destination, everything carried in and placed where you want it. If you only booked loading, the crew is done when the truck is closed and ready to drive.
Our labor-only crews handle loading, unloading, and heavy lifting across Los Angeles County, from the Westside and Downtown to the Valley, Long Beach, and the San Gabriel Valley.
Loading it yourself is slower, riskier, and more expensive than it looks.
Renting the truck and doing the loading yourself seems like the cheapest option. The hourly truck rental cost while you struggle with the sofa tells a different story.
Loading It Yourself
The rental clock is ticking
Loading takes three times longer, burning hours on your truck rental
Items shift in transit because there is no strapping, arriving scratched or broken
Heavy furniture loaded incorrectly, wasting space and forcing a second trip
Back injury carrying a bed frame down a staircase without the right technique or equipment
No insurance on anything you damage yourself during loading
Royal Labor-Only

1. What is the difference between labor-only and hourly movers?
The difference is the truck. Hourly movers provide a crew and a moving truck by the hour. Labor-only provides just the crew. You supply the truck, van, container, or any other vehicle. Labor-only is typically chosen when you have already rented a truck, booked a container, or have your own vehicle and want to avoid paying for a second truck.
2. Can I book loading only, without unloading?
Yes. You can book loading only at the origin, unloading only at the destination, or both. If family is meeting the truck and can handle the unloading, or if a freight service is handling delivery and you just need hands at one end, we accommodate both. Tell us which end you need when you request the quote.
3. Do you load PODS and other moving containers?
Yes. PODS, U-Pack, 1-800-Pack-Rat, and any other portable storage container format. Container loading has its own technique: heavy items against the walls and floor first, boxes in the center, everything strapped to prevent shifting during transport. Loading a container poorly is one of the most common causes of items arriving damaged.
4. Do you bring moving blankets and dollies?
Yes. Moving blankets, furniture pads, dollies, and straps come on every labor-only job. You do not need to supply any equipment. If you need boxes or packing materials, mention it when you book and we can include packing as an add-on.
5. Can the crew help move furniture within the same property?
Yes. Labor-only covers any job that is purely about the physical work, with no truck involved. Moving furniture between rooms, shifting heavy items between floors, staging a home for sale, or reorganizing a space after a renovation all qualify. No truck required.
